A Little About Us

Hi there! We are Lauren and Jen, two former teachers who share a heart for education and the families who make it their own. After a combined 20 years in the classroom, we saw firsthand that every child learns differently, and that the best learning often happens beyond the walls of a traditional school. That’s why we created Simply Homeschool: to walk alongside families choosing an alternative path, offering school scheduling support, extra resources for any subject, and confidence along the way. Our goal is to make homeschooling feel simple, joyful, and uniquely yours.

Meet The Team

Lauren Sutton

Lauren earned her master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Idaho. Over her twelve years in the classroom, she taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades, and took on several leadership positions, advocating for change to best meet each child's learning needs. Those years deepened her perspective about the many ways children learn—and the ways families can help their children flourish when their education is personalized and peaceful.

Lauren believes deeply in educating the whole child, nurturing not only academics, but confidence, curiosity, and connection. Simply Homeschool is a direct reflection of her passion for working alongside families as they create a learning environment to support their child’s educational journey and spark a lifelong love for learning.

Outside of her time supporting families, you will often find Lauren outdoors with her two labs, Jasmine (Jazz) and Emmy. You may also find her planning her next getaway to Puerto Vallarta with her husband—a place that always reminds her of the importance of slowing down and embracing all of life's simple joys.

Jen Murray

Jen earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from National University. She spent nine years working in classrooms, taught first and fifth grades, and educated both general education students and those on the autism spectrum.

After her time in the classroom, Jen transitioned into coordinating large-scale educational trips for schools across the country, where she loved helping students learn through hands-on, real-world experiences. Jen believes that hands-on, experiential learning is where children truly thrive—when they can explore, create, and connect what they’re learning to the world around them. That’s when learning becomes meaningful and unforgettable!

When she’s not working with families, you’ll find Jen outdoors biking, hiking, paddleboarding, and exploring with her two kids (ages 6 & 7) and two dogs!
